Muga Silk - Muga silk is endemic to the state of Assam.. It is one of the rarest silk in the world obtained from a semi-domesticated multivoltine silkworm called Antheraea assamensis. Its natural golden yellow colour and unique sheen become more lustrous with every wash.

Muga silk absorbs 85.08% of the harmful ultra violet rays in sunshine which act as a sunshield protection for the skin. Its durability is said to be more than 100 years. Muga silk of Assam has got Geographical Indication (GI) registration in the year 2007 and in 2012 a Logo for GI- Muga silk of Assam has also been registered.

Mulberry silk comes from silk worm Bombyx mori, which feeds solely on the leaves of the mulberry plant. These silk worms are completely domesticated and reared in indoor. It is a fine, lustrous and strong proteinous fibre having greater tenacity and better drapingbehaviour.

The state of Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Andra Pradesh are recognised as the main producers of this silk in India.

Eri Silk – Eri silk is derived from fully domesticated silkworm Samia ricini. People of South Kamrup of Assam are well versed with Eri rearing, spinning and weaving. Eri silk also known as Ahimsa silk or peace silk as the moth leaves the cocoon after spinning and flies off. For this reason, Eri silk is the preferred material of Buddhists and Vegans. Eri silk is a strong and heavier than other silk. It blends well with cotton and wool.

Tussar Silk – Tussar silkworm belong to the genus Antheraea and they are all wild. Tussar silkworm has the single unbroken filament and it is reelable. Produced mainly in India, Tussar is highly valued for its natural Gold colour.
